Dotremont wrote “I scream by hand”
A large canvas smeared incomprehensible and twisted
Enjoined in crazed swirling eddies of black paint
How I want to join him!
Dip my hands black and run round the world
Dragging my anger behind me with fearful elegance
In flat palms and fingers scratch things
Incomprehensible and raging, yet honest
If only then to put a piece of paper over it all…and lift
Judgment, words, screaming off in a clean, smooth gesture
To be admired at a safe distance.
